Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composition for optical filters containing a squarylium compound which improves color purity, color temperature, light resistance and solution storage stability and has absorption at about 560-620 nm, and to provide an optical filter and a front filter for display using the composition. SOLUTION: The composition for optical filters contains a squarylium compound represented by formula (1) and a binder, wherein B1-B4are each a carbon atom or a nitrogen atom, in the case of a carbon atom, it has a hydrogen atom or a substituent; R1and R2each represent a hydrogen atom or a substituent; and A represents an atomic group required to form a nitrogen-containing heterocyclic 5-membered condensed ring.
