PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent pent-up varnish from developing in a washing device during coating or printing, resulting in improving coating quality or printing quality. SOLUTION: Under the condition that varnish fed from a lower rubber cylinder 28 to a rubber impression cylinder 26 is transferred through the printing pressure of the upper rubber cylinder 25 to the rear surface of paper conveyed by the rubber impression cylinder 26 while varnish fed from the upper plate cylinder 21 to the upper rubber cylinder 25 is transferred to the front surface of the paper when the paper passes in the reverse position C opposing the upper rubber cylinder 25 and the rubber impression cylinder 26 to each other, a washing unit 50 is provided on the rotational downstream side of the upper rubber cylinder 25 from the reverse position C and, at the same time, on the rotational upstream of the upper rubber cylinder 25 from the reverse position D opposing the upper rubber cylinder 25 and the upper plate cylinder 21 to each other. By the washing unit 50, during coating, the pent-up varnish developing at the rotational downstream side E of the upper rubber cylinder 25 from the reverse position C of the upper rubber cylinder 25 is removed.
