Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a low-cost repellent member for birds and animals, having the functions of preventing damages to an optical fiber telecommunication cable due to chewing and opening by birds and animals and the functions for preventing birds and animals from staying on the optical fiber telecommunication cable in combination thereof and is readily installable in the existing extended optical fiber telecommunication cable. SOLUTION: The member 1 is used for protecting the telecommunication cable 2 installed outdoors from damages due to birds and animals, and the member is constituted of a coil piece prepared by forming a synthetic resin filamentary material into a continuous helical shape and dividing the resultant coil into 10-500 mm length.
