Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell capable of improving reliability of an anode-side gas-liquid separation structure, in a direct fuel oxidation type fuel cell. SOLUTION: This fuel cell is provided with: a membrane-electrode assembly 1 having an electrolyte membrane 11, and an anode electrode and a cathode electrode facing to each other by interposing the electrolyte membrane 11; a gas-liquid separation layer 2 formed on a surface of the anode electrode on the side opposite to the electrolyte membrane 11, and dividing a fluid generated by a reaction in the anode electrode into a gas and a liquid; an anode passage plate 4 having a fuel passage 5 supplying a fuel to the anode electrode, and a gas passage 6 exhausting a gas; and an auxiliary porous body layer 3 arranged between the gas-liquid separation layer 2 and the anode passage plate 4, more flexible than the gas-liquid separation layer 2 and the anode passage plate 4, and having conductivity, a lyophobic property and gas permeability.
