Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fault detector for an A/D converter for detecting a fault of an A/D converter for synchronizing with an external clock to perform A/D conversion. SOLUTION: A fault in the A/D converter 8 is determined when a digital output DT0 in falling timing T0 of the external clock and digital outputs DT1 and DT2 after the elapse of a prescribed time from the falling timing T0 between the falling timing T0 and the rising timing of the next period of the external clock are acquired to find that the acquired digital output DT0 is not the same as (different from) the acquired digital output DT1 or DT1.
