Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a polyester monofilament for a screen gauze excellent in the uniformity of gauze-extended strength on being used as a screen gauze-printing on applying paste used as a dielectric substance or an electrode on a substrate plate in a CD-printing and graphic printing or in the production of plasma display, and the polyester monofilament for the screen gauze. SOLUTION: In producing a monofilament by using a first process of melt-spinning the polyester and once winding the unstretched yarn on a bobbin, and a second process of stretching the unstretched yarn between hot rolls, taking up with a final godet roll and winding by a winder, the second and successive hot rolls except for the final godet roll are used, wherein fine unevenness is distributed on the surface of the rolls in axial direction and also in circumferential direction, the mean distance of projected parts is 40-80 μm, the approximate plane surface of the projected parts is a mirror surface having ≤0.8S surface roughness, and areal ratio of the approximate plane surface of the projected parts occupies 60-90% of the whole surface.
