Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To propose a diamond tool for ultra-precision machining, being the diamond tool for machining an optical element or a mold for molding the optical element, not allowing progress of abrasion to proceed and hardly broken even in case of a tool with tip end formed into a minute cutting blade. SOLUTION: There is provided a diamond tool, wherein a cutting blade is formed in a gas phase synthetic single crystal diamond having a nitrogen concentration of 1 to 100 ppm. The cutting blade has a first linear edge part, a second edge part formed in a direction crossing the first edge part, and a third circular edge part connecting the end of the first edge part and the end of the second edge part. Even in a case of a tool, with an angle formed by the first edge part and the second edge part set at 45° or less, and a tool with a length of the cutting blade set at 1 mm or less, the cutting blade being formed into a formed shape by combining any one of the free curved line, circular line, and linear line, breakage and abrasion hardly progress, and the service life of the tool is drastically enhanced.
