HEMMING DEVICE AND HEMMING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hemming device and a hemming method capable of enhancing the hemming accuracy by performing the preliminary bending of a bending part of a workpiece as targeted in a preliminary bending step when performing the permanent bending after performing the preliminary bending of the bending part of the workpiece. SOLUTION: A first die comprises a hemming die 10 for supporting a workpiece W from a base end side of its bending part Wa, a hem punch 32 having a preliminary bending part 32b and a permanent bending part 32c, and a slide cam 30 for supporting the hem punch 32. A second die comprises a presser for pressing the workpiece placed on the hemming die 10, a driver cam to be engaged with the slide cam 30, and a pressing mechanism for applying the pressing force against the bending part Wa to the hem punch 32. The driver cam switches the hem punch 32 to the preliminary bending position and the permanent bending position. The pressing mechanism applies the pressing force from a fore end to a base end to the bending part Wa when the hem punch 32 is at the preliminary bending position. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
