Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correctly determine the self-ignitability (octane number) of fuel of which the property is unknown. SOLUTION: Fuel to be determined in a main tank 11 is injected from a fuel injection valve 10, and reference fuel which is reserved in a sub-tank 15 and of which the self-ignitablity is known is injected from a fuel injection valve 16. The fuel to be determined and the reference fuel are supplied to an internal combustion engine 1 at a predetermined ratio to operate the engine, and knocking limit ignition timing of blended fuel is measured. The self-ignitablity of the fuel to be determined is estimated, based on the knocking limit ignition timing of blended fuel, the self-ignitablity of the blended fuel is estimated, and based on the self-ignitablity of the blended fuel, self-ignitablity of the reference fuel, and the ratio.
