Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide various embodiments for optimizing the articular geometry of an orthopaedic implant. SOLUTION: An exemplary implant may include a plurality of protrusions which provide an articulating surface and which create paths for fluid movement relative to the implant. In one embodiment in the disclosure, the body and a plurality of macroscopic protrusions extending from the body cooperate to define an articulating surface of the implant. In another embodiment in the disclosure, lubrication between the body and the implant is improved. In another embodiment in the disclosure, the body and at least a portion of a plurality of protrusions substantially in spherical shapes protruding from the body cooperate to define the implant articulating surface. In another embodiment in the disclosure, the body and at least a portion of the protrusions protruding from the body cooperate to define the implant articulating surface and the protruding portions define a path through which fluid can flow.
