When the instruction is received during a recording operation, first unique information indicating the type of an optical disk from a unique information area in the optical disk defined according to a standard is read to be saved, identification of a predetermined area is disabled by using the recording/reproducing means, and the saved first unique information and second unique information indicating the device are recorded in a predetermined area of the optical disk different from the unique information area.
