PERPENDICULAR MAGNETIC RECORDING HEAD DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a perpendicular magnetic recording head device highly reliable in a decompression environment by suppressing a T-PTP phenomenon. SOLUTION: This perpendicular magnetic recording head device is provided with: a magnetic layer 24 having a main pole exposed on a surface facing a recording medium M; a return yoke layer 27 disposed on the magnetic layer 24 across a nonmagnetic layer; coil layers 18 and 23 for imparting recording magnetic fields to the magnetic layer 24 and the return yoke layer 27; and a pair of shield layers 13 and 16 sandwiching an insulating layer 15 having a reading element 14 exposed on a surface facing the recording medium M. The return yoke layer 27 overlaps the main pole in a plane view, the surface of the medium facing side extends in a track width direction, and has a recessed part 27d extending to a height-direction depth side.
