PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector capable of achieving improvement of the degree of freedom in design of outside appearance. SOLUTION: The projector 1 includes: a light source device; an optical modulator to modulate luminous flux emitted from the light source device in accordance with image information; a projection optical device 3 to enlarge and project the luminous flux modulated by the optical modulator to a screen; and an outside housing 2 to house and arrange the light source device, the optical modulator and the projection optical device 3 inside. The outside housing 2 includes a front part 211 and a rear part 212 formed to be divided in a direction going along a plane crossing with the outside housing 2 in a vertical direction (Y-axis direction), and combined each other to constitute a plane crossing in the vertical direction in the outside housing 2.
