CONTROL METHOD AND DEVICE OF INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control method and device of an internal combustion engine, which improves monitoring of the internal combustion engine. SOLUTION: The maximum allowable torque mizul of the internal combustion engine is determined as a function of a position of an operation element which is operated at least by a driver. Then the actual torque miist of the internal combustion engine is determined, and both of the torques are compared with each other. When the actual torque has exceeded the maximum allowable torque, an error-responding step is started, and a signal indicating the filling amount of the internal combustion engine is determined. When an error is predicted within the range for determining the filling amount, especially within the range for measuring the mass and flow rate of the air, the comparison between the torques is interrupted, and other monitoring functions are actuated.
