PAD TYPE BEARING DEVICE AND HORIZONTAL SHAFT WATER TURBINE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pad type bearing device with water lubrication and a horizontal shaft water turbine capable of securely lubricating a bearing pad by using water as lubricant, maintaining wear resistance of a bearing sliding surface for a long period of time, and corresponding to oilless operation. SOLUTION: The pad type bearing device for supporting a horizontal rotating shaft includes a plurality of bearing pads formed of resin material on a sliding surface side so as to surround the sliding surface of the rotating shaft. The bearing pad arranged on a lower half part is immersed in lubricating water, and pumping means are arranged in peripheries of both end parts of the bearing pad. As for such the pad type bearing device, only the bearing pad arranged on the lower half part (a load side) is arranged so as to be always immersed in the lubricating water out of the bearing pads arranged to surround the sliding surface of the rotating shaft, and a periphery of the sliding surface of the bearing pad is surrounded with the lubricating water.
