Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a controller for vehicle which can reduce damage on an inverter in case of on failure of an overvoltage protection circuit without requiring an extra component. SOLUTION: The controller for controlling a motor driven vehicle comprising an engine 2, a generator 7 being driven to generate power as the engine 2 rotates, an inverter 9 for inverting the generated power, and a motor 4 which rotates by receiving the inverted power is provided with an overvoltage protection circuit 20 including a resistance element 22, the resistance element 22, an overvoltage detection circuit 21 for detecting the fact that current supply to the resistance element 22 cannot be interrupted, and an ECU 8 for supplying at least a part of a current flowing through the resistance element 22 to the motor 4 through the inverter 9 when on failure is detected.
