Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect a motion vector efficiently. SOLUTION: Just before starting photographing of an image to be recorded on a recording device, an optical axis is fixed substantially and a plurality of images are photographed by changing the focused distance with a predetermined interval, and then, a focused region (in-focus region) within each photographed image is detected. In addition, it is predicted whether there is much or less movement in a focused object, an object focused in the focused region. A detection window bigger than the one for a region of an image of a compression object corresponding to a focused region where a focused object with much movement is focused is established for a region of an image of a compression object corresponding to a focused region where a focused object with less movement is focused, and detection of motion vector is performed. The present invention is applicable to digital video cameras. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
