LINEAR SENSOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a linear sensor capable of suppressing the deterioration of a data rate in an output signal even when reading image information with low resolution. SOLUTION: The linear sensor includes: a sensor part 2 having a plurality of light receiving parts; and a horizontal charge transfer part 4 for horizontally transferring a signal charge which is obtained by the sensor part. In the linear sensor, not less than two light receiving parts 1 are defined as one group which is made to correspond to the unit transfer bit of the horizontal charge transfer part 4, the signal charge stored in each light receiving part is to be transferred to the unit transfer bit corresponding to the group to which the light receiving part belongs, and each light receiving part in the group includes a signal charge holding part which transfers the signal charge to the unit transfer bit with the use of each different route.
