CHARGE CONTROL AGENT AND TONER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a charge control agent having excellent charge control performance, and a toner having excellent charge rising property and capable of stably providing a high-quality image irrespectively of the use environment. SOLUTION: The charge control agent comprises a metal complex represented by formula (1) or a metal complex represented by formula (2). The toner contains at least a resin, a colorant and the charge control agent. In the formulae (1) and (2), R1denotes a hydroxyl group or a hydrogen atom; R2and R3each independently denote a 1-12C alkyl group which may have a substituent, a 2-12C alkenyl group, a 1-12C alkoxyl group, a 6-12C aryl group which may have a substituent, a nitro group, an amino group, a halogen atom or a hydrogen atom; R4denotes a hydrogen atom, a sodium atom or a potassium atom; M denotes a di- to tetravalent metal atom; A denotes a cation; m is an integer of 1-6; and R5and R6each independently denote a hydroxyl group, a water molecule or a halogen atom.
