Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of combustion with a rotary hearth reducing furnace, in which the generation of nitrogen oxides in the rotary hearth reducing furnace is suppressed to thereby attain substantial reduction of an emission rate. SOLUTION: In this rotary hearth reducing furnace of countercurrent heating system adapted to charge a metal oxide and a reducing agent thereinto and carry out heating/reduction by burners provided in a heating combustion zone and a reducing combustion zone, regulation is made so that the reducing combustion zone of below 0.98 theoretical air ratio in a combustor occupies at least 15% of the overall combustion space and so that in the gas emission area of the furnace, the oxygen concentration of combustion emission gas is 5% or less.
