Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a silylated silica having an SiOH density per nm2of less than 0.6, based on the BET-method surface area (DIN66131 and 66132). SOLUTION: A process for the preparation of the silylated silica comprises (1) coating a hydrophilic starting silica with a silylating agent, (2) reacting the hydrophilic silica and the silylating agent, and (3) purifying the silylated silica from the silylating agent and reaction side products within an exclusive container. Toners and developers containing the silica can be used with preference in electrophotographic printing processes, and can also be used in direct image transfer processes, and can be used for obtaining a coating of scratch resistance in lacquers and coatings.
