Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a membrane electrode assembly for a polymer electrolyte fuel cell which has a high output voltage and an excellent load response. SOLUTION: The membrane electrode assembly 10 for the polymer electrolyte fuel cell is provided with an anode 13 and a cathode 14 which have a catalyst layer 11 containing a proton conductive fluorine-contained polymer and a carbon material and a solid polymer electrolyte membrane 15 arranged between the anode 13 and the cathode 14. An ion exchange capacity of the proton conductive fluorine-contained polymer is 1.4-1.8 milli-equivalent/g dry resin, and a moisture content of the proton conductive fluorine-contained polymer is 150 mass% or less, and a mass ratio of the proton conductive fluorine-contained polymer and the carbon material (the proton conductive fluorine-contained polymer/the carbon material) is 0.7-0.8.
