Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem that it is needed to rewrite when partial written pattern recognition of a hand-written character fails, and it is troublesome about lay over of time out or indication of input termination in every input because input information extraction of a partial written pattern is performed by a time out method using input interval and by a direct indication method of the indication of input termination. SOLUTION: Pattern recognition of a partial written stroke pattern of an input character from a stroke pattern input unit is performed by referring to a pattern recognition dictionary by a stroke pattern recognition unit, and recognized candidate characters are outputted. A number indicating what number of strokes about characters being inputted at a stroke number acquiring unit, then past determined history and an estimation dictionary are referred to by making a character string which is being input to be a search key, then a character which is estimated to be written next is produced at an estimation candidate character producing unit, then association intensity is set after associating the recognition candidate characters with estimated candidate characters in response to the stroke number by a candidate character associating unit, then the recognized candidate characters are reduced and determined by a candidate character determining unit based on the association intensity.
