DRUG DISCOVERY SCREENING APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drug discovery screening apparatus, which can selectively obtain both of a fluorescent image and a confocal image, by a simple constitution. SOLUTION: The drug discovery screening apparatus is constituted so as to irradiate the sample placed on a well plate with exciting light to perform the screening on the basis of the fluorescence data produced from the sample and equipped with an exciting light source for outputting exciting light which produces fluorescence in the sample, a confocal scanner for converting the exciting light to exciting luminous flux composed of a plurality of beam spots for scanning the sample, a microscope for irradiating the sample with the exciting luminous flux supplied from the confocal scanner to observe the fluorescence, an optical image detection means for reading the confocal image or fluorescent image acquired through the confocal scanner or the microscope and a light path switching means for selectively bypassing the fluorescence returned from the microscope in front of the confocal scanner to throw the same on the optical image detection means.
