Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To develop a special method for improving the performance of a nickel electrode which is used as a cathode in sodium chloride electrolysis and coated with a platinum metal, a platinum metal oxide or their mixture. SOLUTION: The method for improving the performance of nickel electrodes comprises: (a) preparing a water-soluble or alkali-soluble platinum solution containing (i) a solvent and (ii) a soluble platinum compound; and (b) adding the platinum solution to a catholyte.
