SOLUTION: A liquid crystal panel comprises: a first polarizer; a first optical compensation layer having the relationship nx>ny=nz and exhibiting wavelength dispersion characteristics such that the in-plane retardation Re1becomes smaller as the wavelength is shorter; a second optical compensation layer having the relationship nx=ny>nz; a liquid crystal cell; a third optical compensation layer having the relationship nx>ny=nz and exhibiting wavelength dispersion characteristics such that the in-plane retardation Re3becomes smaller as the wavelength is shorter; and a second polarizer, arranged in this order toward the viewing side, wherein the sum of thickness-direction retardations of all the optical compensation layers, ΣRth1 to n, and the thickness-direction retardation of the liquid crystal cell, Rthc, satisfy formula (1), -120 nm
