OPTICAL FIBER CONNECTION METHOD, OPTICAL FIBER CONNECTION STRUCTURE, AND FUSION SPLICING MACHINE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber connection method by which connection loss is made small when a holey fiber is spliced to another optical fiber and connection is made simple and easy, and to provide an optical fiber connection structure and a fusion splicing machine. SOLUTION: The optical fiber connection method for splicing the holey fiber with the other optical fiber includes: a hole filling process in which holes are filled at a position away from the end face of the holey fiber; a cutting process in which the holey fiber is cut at a place where the holes are filled to expose a face L having no holes for splicing; and a splicing process in which this face L for splicing is spliced to the tip end of another optical fiber.
