TRAVEL CONTROLLER FOR VEHICLE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a travel controller for a vehicle capable changing a control content, in response to a preference of a driver, in inter-vehicle distance setting for an ACC system. SOLUTION: This travel controller estimates the preference of the driver for the inter-vehicle distance setting, when operating the ACC, and corrects the control content of the ACC system, based on an estimated result. The travel controller accelerates or decelerates the vehicle with effective modulation in following travel, when the preference for "shortening" the inter-vehicle distance setting is estimated as being high, decelerates strongly after approached, in a catching scene of a preceding vehicle, and corrects the deceleration so as to be slowly decelerated in an interruption scene of other vehicle. The travel controller accelerates or decelerates the vehicle with weak strength in the following travel, when the preference of "lengthening" the intervehicular distance setting is estimated to be high, starts the deceleration at an early stage, and executes strong deceleration from the beginning thereof, in the catching scene of the preceding vehicle, and corrects the deceleration to be quickly decelerated in an interruption scene of other vehicle.
