SOLUTION: The solid polymer fuel cell comprises a membrane electrode assembly with an electrode containing catalyst jointed to an electrolyte membrane, and one or two kinds or more compounds containing W and/or Mo and transition metal (except W and Mo) added to either the electrolyte membrane or the electrode, and that, includes a degradation inhibitor with a ratio of the transition metal to the W and or the Mo expressed in formula (1): transition metal/(W+Mo)(mol/mol)=0.01 to 0.6.
