Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface mounting square electric storage cell that has high mounting area efficiency, can be miniaturized, and can increase capacity by solving problems wherein a mounting area loss is large and hence miniaturization and an increase in capacity are difficult for a surface mounting coin-shaped electric storage cell to be used for a portable device, or the like. SOLUTION: The surface mounting square electric storage cell comprises: a square element; a pair of square upper/lower metal cases 4a, 4b storing the element with an electrolyte; a gasket 5 arranged between the pair of metal cases 4a, 4b; and a pair of positive and negative terminal plates 6, 7 joined to the upper/lower metal cases 4a, 4b. The electric storage cell 1 is covered with a packaging resin 8 squarely while step sections 6a, 7a provided on the terminal plates 6, 7 are exposed onto an outer surface, and the step sections 6a, 7a are bent along the packaging resin 8, thus reducing the loss of the mounting area by providing the pair of positive and negative terminals on the mounting surface, and hence miniaturizing the cell and increasing its capacity.
