Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermostable enzyme having a synthetic activity for an acetylated aminosugar and a synthetic activity for an acetylated aminosugar nucleotide and to stably synthesize the acetylated aminosugar nucleotide to be a substrate for synthesizing sugar chains. SOLUTION: A candidate gene for an enzyme having the synthetic activity for the acetylated aminosugar and the synthetic activity for the acetylated aminosugar nucleotide is found out from a hyperthermophilic archaebacterium Sulfolobus tokodaii. The gene is used to produce the thermostable enzyme having the synthetic activity for the acetylated aminosugar and the synthetic activity for the acetylated aminosugar nucleotide according to a genetic engineering means.
