Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a narrow-frame liquid crystal display device in which sealing defects are reduced by suppressing the extension of an alignment layer. SOLUTION: Ruggedness for suppressing the extension of the alignment layer is formed on an inside surrounded by a sealing material and on an outside area of a display area. Preferably, the ruggedness is composed of an insulating film and an etching stopper layer is formed on a lower layer of the insulating film forming the ruggedness. It is preferable to form the ruggedness and the stopper layer simultaneously with a formation process of layers used for pixels to prevent increase in the number of manufacturing processes.
