Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new method for producing (Z)-7-chloro-((S)-2,2-dimethylcyclopropanecarboxamide)-2-heptenoic acid as the main intermediate for producing cilastatin used as an auxiliary agent for imipenem. SOLUTION: The new method for producing (Z)-7-chloro-((S)-2,2-dimethylcyclopropanecarboxamide)-2-heptenoic acid comprises the following rpocess. From a mixture of the E, Z isomers of ethyl 7-chloro-((S)-2,2-dimethylcyclopropanecarboxamide)-2-heptenoate, ethyl (E)-7-chloro-((S)-2,2-dimethylcyclopropanecarboxamide)-2-heptenoate is selectively hydrolyzed by using an acid, and ethyl (Z)-7-chloro-((S)-2,2-dimethylcyclopropanecarboxamide)-2-heptenoate is subjected to alkaline hydrolysis and then purified.
