MOBILE EXCHANGE, MOBILE UNIT, MOBILE COMMUNICATION SYSTEM AND LOCATION REGISTRATION EXTENSION METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain improvement in efficiency in location registration of a mobile unit and radio resources of a network. SOLUTION: When a mobile unit (100) moves from a location registration area (LA1) to (LA2), the mobile unit transmits a location registration request to the network. A network-side mobile exchange (104) refers to a call arrival record (503) of the mobile unit (100) and when the number (Q) of times of call arrival does not exceed a threshold (R) and the number (M) of times of movement between the location registration areas (LA1-LA2) exceeds a threshold (N), these areas are defined as the same location registration area (LA1+LA2) and reported to the mobile unit (100). Upon receipt of the notification, the mobile unit (100) records the extended location registration area (LA1+LA2). Thus, even when the mobile unit (100) moves to the location registration area (LA1) again, it is judged as movement within the same location registration area, any new location registration request is not transmitted to the network, and radio resources can be efficiently used.
