SOLUTION: A line detection method includes steps of: reading a pattern having a plurality of lines arranged in a prescribed direction, by a scanner to acquire an image of the plurality of lines; setting a reference point on one line in the image; and detecting points corresponding to this line from within an area which has a prescribed width in the prescribed direction from the reference point at a prescribed distance from the reference point, as points on this line.
