SOLUTION: The pharmaceutical composition comprises a cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) inhibiting substance that contains magnesium, has a molecular weight of 250-500 and is derived from a seaweed belonging to brown algae. The seaweed belonging to the brown algae is preferably one belonging to genera Durvillea, Cladoshiphon, Nemacystis, Lessonia, Ecklonia, Macrocystis, Fucus or Ascophyllum, and particularly preferably, one belonging to genera Durvillea or Cladoshiphon.
