INFORMATION PROCESSOR AND PROGRAM FOR ITS POWER-SAVING OPERATION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information processor reducing power consumed by a hard disk device even when a trick play is requested during content reproduction in the information processor. SOLUTION: A prefetch buffer is prepared on a main storage 3 of the information processor to prefetch and store the moving video content or the like during reproduction. Under control of the CPU 1, the buffer is dynamically divided into a plurality of pieces to increase the fulfilment frequency of the buffer. By maintaining a higher data fulfilment rate in the buffer as a whole, it can respond to an instruction for an instantaneous fast-forward reproduction. Further, by prefetching a chapter emerging after the reproduction position from the head by a prescribed capacity in one of the divided buffer, it can respond to an unexpected skip instruction. In any case, after receiving the instruction, the hard disk device (HDD) 2 is started or restored to an active state.
