Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that restrains a cost increase by using a means for detecting the abnormal operation of a unit, in stead of the detection of setting. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus having a detachable unit includes: the abnormal operation detecting means for detecting the abnormal operation of the unit; a determining means for determining that the unit is not attached when the abnormal operation detecting means detects the abnormal operation; and an informing means for informing a user of the result of the determination made by the determining means.
