Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact vacuum pump having a simple technical solution for minimizing consumption power. SOLUTION: This invention relates to a vacuum pump including at least two pump stages, a motor, a motor operator and a power transmission unit. This invention moreover relates to a method for operating the vacuum pump including two pump stages and a motor operator capable of operating a motor at two different rotation speeds at least. Installation of a signal transmitter detecting gas pressure in a middle of the pump stages is proposed to automatically drop rotation speed.
