MOBILE TERMINAL AND POSITION MONITORING SYSTEM USING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mobile terminal capable of grasping suitable position information corresponding to the location of a person to be monitored, and a position monitoring system using the same. SOLUTION: A GPS function and a radio tag 40 are mounted on the mobile terminal 2. A tag reader 4 is installed in an indoor area to be monitored to detect the presence of the radio tag 40 and transmit detection information to a monitoring center 6. Once the mobile terminal 2 detects a failure in communication with the tag reader 4 outdoors, the mobile terminal actuates the GPS function to transmit GPS information to the monitoring center 6 in fixed cycles through mobile communication. The monitoring center 6 grasps the position of the mobile terminal 2 from a positioning result based upon position information of the tag reader 4 detecting the radio tag 40 or the GPS information. At an external position confirmation request, the monitoring center 6 displays the position of the mobile terminal 2 on a map and presents them. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
