PRESS FORMING DIE AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING THE SAME, AND GLASS SUBSTRATE FOR MAGNETIC DISK

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inexpensively provide a releasing layer on a press forming surface of a die, the releasing layer securing excellent releasing property of a glass material from the press forming surface of the die and causing no projecting and recessed part on the press forming surface even when press forming is repeated. SOLUTION: The press forming die 16 for the glass material 14 is manufactured through a first step for forming an organic compound layer on the press forming surfaces 46, 48 of the die 16 and a second step for converting the organic compound layer formed in the first step to the releasing layer by heating to a temperature equal to or above the thermal decomposition temperature of the organic compound.
