PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To smoothly change power stably according to the current flowing through an electric fan in a vacuum cleaner. SOLUTION: A microcomputer (control means) 15 has a current detection means 13 for detecting the current flowing through the electric fan 2 and a phase-current decision value characteristic consisting of a plurality of phase angles and a current criterion value which one-to-one corresponds to each of the phase angles to switch the phase angles to match the outputs of the current detection means 13 and controls the phase angles with the phase-current criterion value characteristics different from each other depending upon whether the current values detected by the current detection means 13 descend or ascend. This makes the desired current-power characteristics possible, thereby enabling a smooth change of the power stably according to the current flowing through the electric fan depending upon the drop or rise of the current values.
