OPTICAL PICKUP DEVICE AND OPTICAL DISK DRIVE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical pickup which can suppress simultaneously a tracking error signal offset generated in a boundary section of unrecorded and recorded areas and by a displacement of an objective lens, and an optical disk drive thereof. SOLUTION: A luminous flux reflected from a disk is split and detected. A detector has a light receiving part which has areas 1, 2, 3, and 4. Areas 1 and 3 and areas 2 and 4 are axisymmetric to a central axis of the light receiving part. Moreover, the area 1 and the area 2 take a shape to become the breadth in the direction of split line narrow as they are separated from the central axis of the light receiving part in nearly a perpendicular direction.
