Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a refrigerator of high usability capable of rapidly cooling even the food on which a sufficient cooling velocity can not be achieved by conventional technology, without largely increasing costs. SOLUTION: This refrigerator comprises: a cooler 7; a cooler receiving compartment 8 for receiving the cooler 7; an inside air distribution fan 9 for circulating the cold air inside of the refrigerator; a rapid cooling compartment 4 for rapidly cooling the food; a rapid cooling compartment air distribution duct 13 for distributing cold air to the rapid cooling compartment; and a rapid cooling compartment return duct 18 for returning the cold air to the cooler receiving compartment 8, in a heat insulating housing 10. The refrigerator Further comprises: a jet discharge opening 33 for discharging the cooling air for cooling the rapid cooling compartment 4; and a means for providing the high-speed jet discharged from the jet discharge opening 33 with a horizontal velocity component and a vertical downward velocity component.
