Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-quality alkaline battery which has little variation of an internal resistance by controlling variation of heights of cathode mixture pellets in a production process of the cathode mixture pellets. SOLUTION: In the alkaline battery provided with: a cathode mixture pellet 2 of a hollow cylindrical shape containing manganese dioxide and graphite; a gelled anode 3 containing zinc; and a separator 4 arranged between the cathode mixture pellet 2 and the gelled anode 3, a manganese dioxide is used which at least contains in a volume particle size distribution 25 to 30% of manganese dioxide particles of a particle diameter of 10 μm or smaller and 15 to 25% of manganese dioxide particles of a particle diameter 60 to 100 μm.
