DISPLAY DEVICE, DISPLAY METHOD, AND PROGRAM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device etc., which improves visibility by varying sizes to which characters and figures are displayed on a display screen according to the distance to a user who views the display screen. SOLUTION: In the display device 301, a character image generator 305 generates a character image representing a character string to be presented to the user and a figure image generator 360 generates a character image representing a figure to be presented to the user; and a measuring unit 303 measures the distance between the display screen where a display unit displays images and the user, and an enlargement/reduction rate acquiring unit 304 acquires a figure enlargement/reduction rate increasing with the measured distance and a character enlargement/reduction rate varying more gently than the figure enlargement/reduction rate. A control unit 307 supplies the figure image and figure enlargement/reduction rate, and the character image and character enlargement/reduction rate to the display unit, which displays them.
