Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide measures for guaranteeing accurate, reliable and continuous determination of at least one stopper value of adjustable variables for a motor vehicle at the beginning or during driving or in both. SOLUTION: At least one stopper value corresponding to a driver-controlled control element 42 when released is determined when the motor vehicle is outside of driving and when at least one of the following states exists, that is, when a control unit 10 controlling a drive unit of the motor vehicle is in a defined state as an operation function of a connected testing device 48, and when there is a defined sequence of specific actuations of the control element.
