Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly active olefin polymerization catalyst that uses a novel aluminum compound having high activity per aluminum atom, high solubility not only in aromatic hydrocarbon solvent, but also in aliphatic hydrocarbon solvent and the like, and causing no change of the quality during the storage, and provide a method for producing olefin polymer of high quality with industrial advantage, efficiently and inexpensively. SOLUTION: The catalyst for producing olefin polymer comprises (a) organic aluminum oxide compound that is obtained by treating tetraisobutyldialuminoxane or tetraisobutyldialuminoxane and trimethylaluminum at a temperature of 20 to 100°C under reduced pressure of ≤ 1.0×10-3mmHg until to the constant weight, (b) an alkylation agent and (c) a transition metal compound selected from groups IV, V, VI or VIII in the periodic table.
