Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device which is thin in the thickness over the entire part of the device and in which an animation image blur of a moving image can be suppressed in a structure using one or a plurality of lamps. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device comprises a liquid crystal display panel 3, a light transmission plate 12 arranged on the back of the liquid crystal display panel 3, and an upper side edge lamp 8 and lower side edge lamp 9 arranged adjacently to the light transmission plate 12 on the opposite two side edges of the liquid crystal display panel 3. Lamp controllers 1, 4, 5, 6, 7 perform the control to intermittently light the upper side edge lamp 8 and the lower side edge lamp 9 by associating the write timing of videos with respect to the liquid crystal display panel 3 and the lighting timing of the upper side edge lamp 8 and the lower side edge lamp 9.
