Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ferrule that makes interconnection switching possible between an SC type and an FC type or between an MU type and an LC type, among optical connectors for which dimensions are stipulated by IEC standard and the like. SOLUTION: The ferrule 10 is provided with a through hole 14 for inserting an optical fiber in the axial direction and is formed in a columnar shape with a diameter different in one end from the other end in the axial direction. The stepped ferrule 10 is characterized in that the diameter ψ1of the one end is 1.249±0.0005 mm or 2.499±0.0005 mm as the outside diameter prescribed in the IEC, JIS or TIA/EIA standard and that the diameter 2of the other end is 0.8±0.1 mm.
